Here at T. Free Photography we’re always on the lookout for great opportunities for us to give back to the community, individuals, military families, etc. So after a recent discussion with close friends of ours we heard about Corey and Alaina and their beautiful little newborn daughter Lydia.
Alaina’s original due date was early December, but after a ‘routine’ doctor’s appointment, Lydia was born on October 3rd, 2011, 10 weeks early after an emergency caesarean section due to a slow heart rate. Weighing just 3 lbs. 4 oz. at birth, Lydia spent 9 weeks in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. During this time Corey, a pilot serving our country in the U. S. Air Force, was preparing for an upcoming deployment overseas. While in the NICU, Lydia was diagnosed with congenital complete heart block and will need a pacemaker in the near future.
So after hearing their story, we had to help them out in some way. At the time it was Lydia’s 8th week in the NICU and they didn’t have any professional images of her thus far so we planned a photo shoot in her room at the NICU. Our goal was to capture some real, emotional images that would document this moment in Lydia’s life. We designed a custom photo keepsake box filled with 100+ 5×7 prints from the shoot. I specifically wanted to create something special for Corey. Since it had to be something durable that he would be able to carry with him during deployment, we were able to bless him with durable double-sided hard plastic mounted pocket sized images.
Lydia was able to come home on December 3rd and Corey ended up being deployed to Qatar 2 days later on December 5th.

Beautiful baby, congratulations. I wish I could come and see the baby and hold her but I can no longer travel like i used to. If I had been able I would have come to the wedding. I missed so many things. I cam to your graduation, Cory, saw you get you walk across the platform and that was it! Well I congratulate both of you on the birth of your beautiful daughter.
